The Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) qualification is offered by the (ACCA). CAT can be of value as a qualification in its own right, or as a first step towards a full ACCA qualification in Accountancy.
There are no formal academic qualifications necessary to register for CAT. If you have no academic qualifications, you will be expected to complete all three Levels of the Certified Accounting Technician examinations. Holders of certain qualifications may receive exemptions from some of the papers.
There are nine papers in total to complete including two out of three option papers at Advanced Level. You may attempt as few or as many examinations as you wish at each sitting. However, we advise our students to attempt a maximum of four papers in each six-month period.
You can sit the papers in any order to suit your own career or study needs. It is recommended, however, that you attempt the papers in their numerical order.
Registration with ACCA
All students who wish to take the CAT qualification through ACCA must:
• Register as a student with ACCA
• Register to sit specific exams with ACCA (you will be sent an exam entry form once you have registered with ACCA)

For the June examinations - you must register as a student by 31 December of the preceding year
For the December examinations - you must register as a student by 15 August of the same year
